"Lord of the Rings" (LOTR), the massively multi-player online game series based on Tolkien's book of the same name, has now got its fifth content update. Developers Turbine and Codemasters have announced "Doom of the Last King" for gamers who own "Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar". The update, which was made available to LOTR online subscribers in North America on April 24, 2008, will be soon making its way to gamers across Europe.

Taking forward the massive story line of the game, the new update adds a completely new middle-earth region 'Forochel', a new Monster Play class Defiler, and a hobby system. It continues with over 100 new quests starting at Elrond's urging. Players get to venture into the frozen wastes of the North to continue Laerdan's search for the remnants of the ring Narchuil. Aided by the Snowmen of Forochel, players get to uncover the fate of an ancestor of Aragorn, and strive to thwart the terrible aims of Angmar.

With 'Forochel', players get to see the ocean for the first time; it introduces temperature-based landscape effects plus a new enemy in the form of frost that can only be overcome with shelter or campfires. The people of 'Forochel' are called "Lossoth" and are wary of outsiders; players get to earn favors from the "Lossoth" by aiding them. The new class of Defiler is a healer. The new game also allows you to develop your fishing skills with a hobby system, or relax or get entertained.

Jim Crowley, president and chief executive officer of Turbine said that development on the next book 14 is ongoing and that it will be ready by summer.
