Several weeks ago, Diablo3.com (an independent Diablo fan site) had posted a mysterious countdown set to yesterday, May 1. That Blizzard has bought the url diablo3.com and made it diablofans.com.

Diablo's official Web site says: "As much as we'd like to eventually revisit that universe, we don't have any plans to announce at this time." Meanwhile, Blizzard, maker of games like "World of Warcraft", "Starcraft", and "Warhammer" might soon announce the next installment of Diablo, or so rumors seem to suggest. Currently, diablo3.com redirects to diablofans.com, but might eventually redirect to blizzard.com.

Last year, at the Blizzard invitational -- which is now just two months away -- Blizzard had made a surprise announcement of what it claimed as the most-anticipated sequel in history -- "Starcraft II". Fans are bound to expect something similar for Diablo III.

Now with "Warhammer" and "WoW: Wrath of the Lich King" releasing soon -- almost together, Blizzard might be putting many of their own games in the ring against each other -- maybe they feel there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe this sort of competition might prove good for the games and the gamers. However Blizzard has specifically posted on its new url that all new developments shouldn't be mistaken as an announcement for a new Diablo. Maybe...

Roger Barr aka "Mockery", owner of diablo3.com, said, "there is no monetary exchange taking place, I'm simply giving Blizzard the diablo3 domain." He did however suggest that Blizzard assuming that url was a confirmation that they were working on Da sort of confirmation that they were working on Diablo next. We sure hope so!
