For those who're unaware, Dell had acquired Alienware, which is why their gaming PCs now deserve some respect. Dell XPS 730 and its premium edition "H2C" -- that integrate an enhanced cooling solution designed by Dell, Intel, Delphi, and CoolIT -- are the latest in the line.
Dell's newest mean machine can be armed with a quad-core CPU, quad-core GPU, as well as a quad hard drive (i.e. up to 4 HDDs in RAID, which is claimed to be a faster way to access drive data using multiple drives simultaneously). The two new editions -- liquid cooled 730 H2C and standard air cooled 730 -- both feature the nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset on a standard ATX mobo with Corsair Dominator DDR3 RAM. The chassis is designed with a neat shape and has stylized grills (but nothing like the eye candy of Alienware PCs), and comes in various color options like red, blue, and silver.
The PC offers support for new Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA), promising real-time and complete PC performance management, while delivering new control and monitoring features for thermal, electric, and acoustic characteristics.
The options for CPU and GPU include both SLI and CrossFireX support, and you can pick and choose to suit your needs and of course, your budget. Which brings us to the all-important question -- the price. Well, Rs 1,60,000 to 2,00,000 is the approximate range, without including import taxes. As always, Dell offers direct-from-manufacturer customizations on their Web site, and if you have the wherewithal, you can customize your machine with all the accessories for a whopping Rs 3,60,000 plus taxes. As they say, power never comes cheap!
